Watch Movies in Microsoft Paint

Here's what you gotta to do :

1.Open your favourite movie player and play the movie (I played the .mpg format in Winamp)

2.Hit "PrintScreen", keep playing the movie in the player, dont stop it.

3.Open MsPaint.

4.Select Edit > Paste Or Hit "CTRL+V"

You can watch movies in Paint !

But there are no Pause, Next, Previous, Stop etc. buttons

Experiment with other formats too, it doesn't play DivX , Flash movies, etc.

1.Also you can save the image and then put it on your desktop background and it will play
2.you can also run it on Photoshop,Dreamweaver

Note: It is actually not plaing a movie in paint. It's just a screenshot, but paint looks to a buffer somewhere, and with some kinds of movie types, the buffers doesn't keep the still image, so paint changes its image too.. but you can enjoy it

How to Hide My Network Places In Windows Xp

No Comment - Post a comment

How to Hide in the (Network) Neighborhood

Don't want your XP computer to show up in the network browse list (Network Neighborhood/My Network Places) to other users on your network? One way to accomplish that is to disable file sharing. To do this

# click Start
# right click My Network Places
# select Properties
# Right click your local area connection
# click Properties
# Uncheck the box that says File
# Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
# Click OK.

But what if you want to be able to share folders with some users; you just don't want everyone on the network to see your computer's shares? There's a way:

Click Start and select Run.
In the Run box, type net config server /hidden:yes
Click OK.
Now others who know the UNC path (\\computer name\share name) can connect to your computer's shares from the Run box, but it won't show up in the network browse list.

inspection of the destination IP address in data packets

ARP requests from connected routers

manual configuration of routes *

updates from other routers *

DHCP information broadcasts

updates from the SMTP management information base

16.

The network shown in the diagram is having problems routing traffic. It is suspected that the problem is with the addressing scheme. What is the problem with the addressing used in the topology?

The address assigned to the Ethernet0 interface of Router1 is a broadcast address for that subnetwork.

The subnetwork configured on the serial link between Router1 and Router2 overlaps with the subnetwork assigned to Ethernet0 of Router3. *

The subnetwork assigned to the Serial0 interface of Router1 is on a different subnetwork from the address for Serial0 of Router2.

The subnetwork assigned to Ethernet0 of Router2 overlaps with the subnetwork assigned to Ethernet0 of Router3.

21.Which of the following statements are true regarding RIP v1 and v2? (Choose three.)

Both RIP versions use hop count.*

Both RIP versions can provide authentication of update sources.

Both RIP versions use 16 hops as a metric for infinite distance.*

RIP v1 uses split horizon to prevent routing loops while RIP v2 does not.

RIP v1 uses hold-down times to prevent routing loops while RIP v2 does not.

RIP v1 broadcasts routing table updates, while RIP v2 multicasts its updates. *

22.What is the purpose of the network command used in the configuration of the RIP routing protocol?

It specifies RIP v2 as the routing protocol.

It enables the use of VLSM.

It specifies the fastest path to the destination route.

It specifies which interfaces will exchange RIP routing updates.

It activates RIP for all routes that exist within the enterprise network. *

23.Refer to the graphic. Which command will enter a static route to network 192.168.19.0 from router C?

How To Upload Widscreen Videos To YouTube

YouTube videos are 320 x 240 pixels in size and that presents a problem if you have a widescreen or anamorphic videotape to upload. This is because it squashed be squashed into the YouTube format leaving the content trust 'uprisen and enfeeble'.

Virtualdub is a free piece of video capture/modus operandi software. Among many other things this software will resize video and you can turn invent anamorphic or widescreen video into standard format with letterboxing so it looks right in YouTube. There's no install, likely run the software, unzip it and run Virtualdub.

Start by opening your video file in Virtualdub. As default you will see 2 previews of devise video. One pane is the original video and the other is the video after any filters you apply to it. As you can see hooky the screenshot below the problem is clear. My video is 'tall and thin'. The radar in the top right should be a circle not an disk-shaped shape. This is as long as the video is anamorphic, widescreen foiled fire at* standard video size. Normally invent widescreen TV will automatically stretch the video and make it scan remarkably, but YouTube doesn't. To fix the video for YouTube we need to do back ourselves by resizing the video.

1.To resize the video you need to add a resize filter.
2.From the Video menu pick Filters and then in the filters window select Add. From the lengthy list of filters shown select resize. The resize window will be shown and its here where you specify how to resize the video.

3. Select Disabled for aspect ratio. This is because we are trying to change the aspect ratio and we don't want a change in the height of the video automatically recalculating the width.

4.Now we need to input the new height of the video.

5.Now this might be confusing because the video is already 320 x 240 and that's the size for YouTube right? The problem is the video is anamorphic. It was meant to be displayed at a ratio of 16:9. We need to keep the 320 width but resize the height. The calculation is quite simple. The new height will be 320 * 9 / 16 = 180 pixels.

6.Finally to keep the video size at 320 x 240, in Framing options select Letterbox/crop to size 320 x 240. In our case this will put a black strip at the top and bottom of the picture to fill in the height we lost by making it 180 pixels high.

The end result is the anamorphic video made into letterbox format. See the radar? its a circle now. To finish off select Save as AVI from the File menu and upload to YouTube.

How To Blur Out Timecoders / Logos From Any Movie

A simple pictorial on how to ‘blur’ out the timecoder using Virtual Dub MOD and the LogoAway filter. The settings are marked clearly

NBThe Xvid settings I have used are just for this movie

Load up your Video file using Virtual Dub Mod

Then click on VIDEO - FILTERS - ADD - LOGOAWAY (find this here http://voidon.republika.pl/virtualdub/index.html )

Click on CONFIGURE and then use the settings below so that you can view the 'black box' which will allow you to position it over the timecoder or logo where needed

Then back on the main screen use the slider at the bottom to move through the movie to see how it looks

If your happy with results you can now save this - these settings are only for this movie (CD1)

I would recommend for most people to save as UNCOMPRESSED and then use an automated tool to encode if your unfamiliar with using the Xvid codec configuration।

Your recoded movie

How To Bypass Expiration Dates For RS Premium Users

As most of you probably know, Rapidshare is going to delete Files from XXL Premium Accounts which haven't been dowloaded for more than 90 Days.

Use following Procedure to refresh the Download dates for all files

1: Start Flashget, go to Options, Connections and set simultaneous Downloads to 1

2: Go here for all your files
https://ssl.rapidshare.com/cgi-bin/premiumzone.cgi?export=1

3: Export your Rapidsharelinks, copy them into Flashget.

4: Fill in your RS details and select a floppy disk/Small USB/Virtual Drive to save files to.

5: Due to the lack of Freespace the downloading of the File is aborted and Flashget tries to download the next on the List.
This goes on until all Links are "downloaded"

6: Copied the links to a notepad then imported the links to RS. Of course they pinged back as not enough space and it did 867 files in less than 10 minutes..

What Is Worm ?

What Is Worm ?

worms are programs which reproduce by copying themselves over and over, system to system, using up resources and sometimes slowing down the systems. They are self contained and use the networks to spread, in much the same way viruses use files to spread. Some people say the solution to viruses and worms is to just not have any files or networks. They are probably correct. We would include computers.

What is a Trojan ??

No Comment - Post a comment

It is a program which does an unauthorized function, hidden inside an authorized program. It does something other than what it claims to do, usually something malicious (although not necessarily!), and it is intended by the author to do whatever it does. If it's not intentional, its called a 'bug' or, in some cases, a feature :) Some virus scanning programs detect some trojans. Some virus scanning programs don't detect any trojans. No virus scanners detect all trojans.

Vista's SystemRestore Delete AFTER 136 yrs !

Vista's SystemRestore Delete AFTER 136 yrs !

In Vista, SystemRestore is set to delete restore points after roughly 136 years ...

Normally Windows uses up to 15 percent of a drive’s available space to save restore points. In XP, the option to change this figure was configurable from the System Restore tab of the System Properties dialog box. But sadly this option is no longer offered in Vista.

But you can do so as follows :
Open regedit and go to
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\
SystemRestore\Cfg Double-click the DiskPercent.
The default is f (in hexadecimal) which is 15 in decimal. For making it say 10%type 'a'

Now again, how frequently you'd like to have your SystemRestore points auto-created can also b configured as follows :
Open regedit and go to
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\S ystemRestore
You can change the value RPGlobalInterval from its default setting of 86,400 seconds (24 hours) to, say, 43200 (a8c0) if u want it created every 12 hrs.

As and how your new restore points get created, the older ones get deleted due to the availble space contstraint.

Otherwise by default, in Vista, SystemRestore is set to delete restore points after roughly 4,294,967,295 seconds or 136 years, which was a mere 90 days in XP ! The idea apparantly, is to delete them only when absolutely necessary due to space constraint!!! But err...136 years !!!

But if you'd like to, you can also change this interval too. Change the value of RPLifeInterval in the same key; a setting of 7,776,000 seconds (or 76a700 in hexadecimal) is equivalent to 90 days.

What is "security through obscurity " ?

No Comment - Post a comment

Security Through Obscurity (STO) is the belief that a system of any sort can be secure so long as nobody outside of its implementation group is allowed to find out anything about its internal mechanisms. Hiding account passwords in binary files or scripts with the presumption that "nobody will ever find it" is a prime case of STO.

STO is a philosophy favoured by many bureaucratic agencies (military, governmental, and industrial), and it used to be a major method of providing "pseudosecurity" in computing systems.

Its usefulness has declined in the computing world with the rise of open systems, networking, greater understanding of programming techniques, as well as the increase in computing power available to the average person.

The basis of STO has always been to run your system on a "need to know" basis. If a person doesn't know how to do something which could impact system security, then s/he isn't dangerous.

Admittedly, this is sound in theory, but it can tie you into trusting a small group of people for as long as they live. If your employees get an offer of better pay from somewhere else, the knowledge goes with them, whether the knowledge is replaceable or not. Once the secret gets out, that is the end of your security.

Nowadays there is also a greater need for the ordinary user to know details of how your system works than ever before, and STO falls down a as a result. Many users today have advanced knowledge of how their operating system works, and because of their experience will be able to guess at the bits of knowledge that they didn't "need to know". This bypasses the whole basis of STO, and makes your security useless.

Hence there is now a need is to to create systems which attempt to be algorithmically secure (Kerberos, Secure RPC), rather than just philosophically secure. So long as your starting criteria can be met, your system is LOGICALLY secure.

"Shadow Passwords" (below) are sometimes dismissed as STO, but this is incorrect, since (strictly) STO depends on restricting access to an algorithm or technique, whereas shadow passwords provide security by restricting access to vital data.

What's the difference between a hacker and a cracker?

No Comment - Post a comment

On USENET, calling someone a "cracker" is an unambiguous statement that some person persistently gets his/her kicks from breaking from into other peoples computer systems, for a variety of reasons. S/He may pose some weak justification for doing this, usually along the lines of "because it's possible", but most probably does it for the "buzz" of doing something which is illicit/illegal, and to gain status amongst a peer group.

Particularly antisocial crackers have a vandalistic streak, and delete filestores, crash machines, and trash running processes in pursuit of their "kicks".

The term is also widely used to describe a person who breaks copy protection software in microcomputer applications software in order to keep or distribute free copies.

On USENET, calling someone a "hacker" is usually a statement that said person holds a great deal of knowledge and expertise in the field of computing, and is someone who is capable of exercising this expertise with great finesse. For a more detailed definition, readers are referred to the Jargon File [Raymond].

In the "real world", various media people have taken the word "hacker" and coerced it into meaning the same as "cracker" - this usage occasionally appears on USENET, with disastrous and confusing results.

Posters to the security newsgroups should note that they currently risk a great deal of flamage if they use the word "hacker" in place of "cracker" in their articles.

What are alt security and comp.security misc for?

No Comment - Post a comment

Comp.security.misc is a forum for the discussion of computer security, especially those relating to Unix (and Unix like) operating systems. Alt.security used to be the main newsgroup covering this topic, as well as other issues such as car locks and alarm systems, but with the creation of comp.security.misc, this may change.

This FAQ will concentrate wholly upon computer related security issues.

The discussions posted range from the likes of "What's such-and-such system like?" and "What is the best software I can use to do so-and-so" to "How shall we fix this particular bug?", although there is often a low signal to noise ratio in the newsgroup (a problem which this FAQ hopes to address).

The most common flamewars start when an apparent security novice posts a message saying "Can someone explain how the such-and-such security hole works?" and s/he is immediately leapt upon by a group of self appointed people who crucify the person for asking such an "unsound" question in a public place, and flame him/her for "obviously" being a cr/hacker.

Please remember that grilling someone over a high flame on the grounds that they are "a possible cr/hacker" does nothing more than generate a lot of bad feeling. If computer security issues are to be dealt with in an effective manner, the campaigns must be brought (to a large extent) into the open.

Implementing computer security can turn ordinary people into rampaging paranoiacs, unable to act reasonably when faced with a new situation. Such people take an adversarial attitude to the rest of the human race, and if someone like this is in charge of a system, users will rapidly find their machine becoming more restrictive and less friendly (fun?) to use.

This can lead to embarrasing situations, eg: (in one university) banning a head of department from the college mainframe for using a network utility that he wasn't expected to. This apparently required a lot of explaining to an unsympathetic committee to get sorted out.

A more sensible approach is to secure a system according to its needs, and if its needs are great enough, isolate it completely. Please, don't lose your sanity to the cause of computer security; it's not worth it.
