How To Cut Video Audio Files From Movies Videos

In this guide I will show you how to cut small clip from any video file. Here i used virtualDub freeware program. You don't have to install it. Just download it and extract its files into a new folder. Run VirtualDub.exe and we are ready to begin.

What is VirtualDub?

VirtualDub is a video capture/processing utility for 32-bit Windows platforms (95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP), licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). It lacks the editing power of a general-purpose editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is streamlined for fast linear operations over video. It has batch-processing capabilities for processing large numbers of files and can be extended with third-party video filters. VirtualDub is mainly geared toward processing AVI files, although it can read (not write) MPEG-1 and also handle sets of BMP images.

If you are not able to open movie file you have to read my previous article on How To Play All Files In Window Media Player follow the simple steps and your window media player will able to run any file.

When the video file is loaded you will see
two instances of the files

1. Pause/Stop
2. Play only first monitor
3. play both monitor
4. Beginning
5. Prev Frame
6. Next Frame
7. End
8. Prev Keyframe
9. Next Keyframe
10. PrevScene
11. NextScene
12. Set Selection Start
13. Set Selection End

In order to select the beginning of the video you want to cut you can either move to that point by moving the time line cursor ( 1 in above figure ) You can also first use the timeline cursor and then use the Prev/Next keyframe buttons to find the exact frame of the video you want or by pressing Ctrl+ G ( 2 in above figure ).

Then entering the time of frame position of the video.

Now that you have found your favorable beginning of the video click on the Set selection start (1). With the same way as before you must find the frame you want your movie to end. Once you have done so click the Set selection end (2) and you will have selected a part of the video.

Next we must encode new video both its video and audio parts.
First of Video

Click on Video -> Full processing mode

Then click on Video -> Compression.

Then select the video codec you want. Here i select Xvid MPEG-4 Codec.

For audio parts

Click on Audio -> Full Processing mode and then
Audio -> Compression.

I select mp3 codec and 32kbit/sec.

Finally click go to File -> Save as AVI, select a new for the new video file and after a while depending on your video's length you will have the final video ready!
