Windows Vista Freezes When Playing Video

I have vista sp1 ultimate version for few months now, and among few minor details that i've noticed there is this problem i can't get rid off...
almost every time i play some video, on wmp, vlc, winamp, doesn't matter which application, it just stops after few minutes...

Then i have few seconds and i can react, like turn off the application, go to start and press Restart... but then everything just freezes and i have to restart it manually on button.

I haven't made any driver changes, system mechanic has cleaned lots of stuff, and all other things are running perfectly. i'm really clueless what makes those freezes that i'm thinking going back to xp, or i'd prefer w7 but i'm kinda skeptical about those beta releases.

It sounds like you have a codec problem and perhaps a virus. First, download and install klite codec pack (it's free) and see what happens.

something similar happened to myself recently, I uninstalled the codec pack through control panel and then ran a registry cleaner/optimizer and just installed codec pack again as if for first time.
