Possibility to selectively pass connections through VPN?

I have been trying to find a way to selectively pass connections through VPN but so far haven't found a way.
Certain sites (ie some filehosts, imagehosts etc) are blocked were I am. I use proxy servers in conjunction with Foxyproxy to selectively pass these through proxies.
I do not wish to go through proxies for ALL my connections for the reasons of speed and security.
I can get a VPN account but.....is there a way to the same as above with a VPN connection?
