Prevent stealing software's source code ?

You can never stop a determined techie from getting hold of the source code. However, it's normal to use different "compartments", where different functions are separated, and only those who need to have access to specific areas. This means that nobody has access to the entire source base. But that's not a big deal really, if you have in the contract that any code written belongs to the company (that's actually the law in pretty much every jurisdiction, but it doesn't hurt to include it), the employee then has a legal obligation not to take the code. If they do, it's theft with the usual criminal penalties, and if any other company uses this code, you can sue them for a nice chunk of change.

However, this whole idea begs the question: what kind of an employer are you when you have so little trust in your employees? If I worked in such an atmosphere I would be long gone by now. And your best people will leave first.

1) Obfuscate Source Code
2) Only Give Source to Trusted Individuals
3) Change PE/COFF headers
