Changing the default gateway of an Exchange server

Hello,

We have a simple setup with a single domain controller and 2 Exchange 2013 servers running CAS/MBX roles and configured as a DAG in the same site.

We need to change the default gateway for the domain controller and the exchange servers as we are changing firewalls and it needs to go on a different IP for reasons that I won't go into here.

Can anyone think of any issues this will cause Exchange by doing this? I can't think of any however I wanted to run this past some experts in case there is something I hadn't thought of.

Thanks

Hi,
When modifying the default port used by an Exchange 2010 service, you must also modify the corresponding Windows Firewall with Advanced Security firewall rule to allow communication over the nondefault port you decide to use. Exchange Server doesn't change firewall rules when you change default ports used for a service.
More details about Network port usage and Firewall Hardening, for your reference:https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691338.aspx#NetworkPortandFirewall

Thanks for the info but we're not modifying the default port used. Our plan is to change the current Default Gateway from 192.168.10.254 to 192.168.10.200

I'm assuming that there will be no problems with this. The firewall/router on 192.168.10.200 will be set up identically with the same access as is currently

Changing the IP address scheme on a DC or Exchange server is completely safe. Just do not change the name of the Exchange Servers or the domain name itself.

A side from that everything should be fine. Do this off hours to ensure that DNS has updated properly and to test after changes have been made.

Will.

Thanks will, that is what I expected
