Hard Disc Space

HDD space shows fully occupied automatically for no additional files. As shown in attached screen all folder size around 250GB. But in my computer it shows only 1 GB is free out of 463 GB

or use scanner. http://www.steffengerlach.de/freeware/
sometimes you need to run it as administrator via the run as function. This way it can scn folders that are not accessible for the currently logged in user. Folders like System Volume information will not be scanned, even in elevated mode.

But usually a normal elevated scan will show up the folder which consumes the space.

IIRC, Windows right click properties will also ignore hidden and system files when they are invisible in windows explorer, when calculating sizes.

Hi,
I want to ask a dumb question but sometimes dumber things are too dumb to be find quickly : did you wait enough time on the C properties windows, ini order to let the system calculate all space used? sometimes it could be long, depending of the system, its use, etc...

I don't know about "scanner" from andreas but seems good, I know treesize from mar121mar121 and use it oftenly for years it is a simple and efficient tool, it can help you on this.

you have to run scanner and treesize as an administrator to get valid results

Right mouse click on Computer and click on manage. Go to the Disk Management to find other possible hidden partitions.

If you find just a single partition or one that has just a couple of small partitions - It should show you what size the partition really is.

If it shows that the main partition is roughtly what it should be the - Bring up the "Computer" Right mouse click on the drive in question and go to properties. Choose the "Tools" tab and check for errors. Either check both boxes and then reboot or uncheck the top box and check the 2nd box. I suspect that you may corrupted the Free Space left calculation for the drive. Running the checks should fix this
