I can RDP but another user cannot

Hi! I am having a strange problem. I can RDP to a server via VPN just fine. I have another remote user who connects to VPN, and then tries VPN'ing to the same server, and gets the offline error attached. I am using Windows 7 Pro, my remote user is on 8.1, and the server is a 2008 server. We are on the same IP address format when on VPN sessions, so I am not understanding why I can connect and log in whereas from his point of view the server isn't even there.

Can the user connect to the server using the server's IP address (rather than host name)?

no, we only use the IP address of these servers for RDP anyway

Has the other user performed a ping to the server or traceroute? Seems as if your other user is being blocked as his machine account and or user ID is not allowing him. Check server permissions on who can access via RDP as well as the groups allowed to RDP.

Ok the answer was my local user list in the firewall of that network didn't match what I had in the token cloud service we use for authentication. I adjust the usernames to match and I am fine!

Glad to hear i steered you into some direction along those lines.

Good luck and feel free to reach out if you need more help
