.exe lost association

I have a Win 7 32 bit PC that seems to have lost the association for .exe files. Any suggestions? Remember no exe file will run.

start by trying the fixit in this Microsoft article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/950505

If you can't open your browser directly then copy the link and paste into the RUN box and it should open the browser directly to the site for you.

Gary Fuqua, CISSP--This .REG file should fix your association.

I'd start with rightclicking the .exe and run as administrator,
add the file .exe to the exceptions in AVG if you have it.
AVG once it flags a .exe could be a false positive these are the steps I used.
I got this when installing old flash games and AVG decided this old language is a risk even if it is not. It's not that .exe within your windows and applies to all .exe maybe your just being prevented from opening specific files.

I am sure you understood that I was directing you to the REG. file for .exe in

Gary Fuqua, CISSP--
Did the .Reg file I suggested not work?
Using it should be so much simpler.
