Windows Updates Failed

Hey guys,

On my PC's here, the windows update fail with code 80072EFD. It says updates are managed by your system administrator.
We use SBS 2011. How do i get updates going again on the PC's?

There were some Windows 7 updates that were botched. August 12 updates. By now, most machines are getting revised updates fine.

I would do the following: As soon as convenient, restart the server and restart the Windows 7 machines. Wait 24 - 36 hours to see if updates commence again. I think they might.

If not, we would have to look at the update readiness tool and at the software distribution folder.

No, they have not worked in a long time.

The problem seems to be something blocking your PC connecting to the Windows Update servers. The firewall is one place to look.

Here are two references that address that error code specifically.

For a Windows 7 machine, run the Windows Update readiness tool. Here is the one for 64-bit and there is a different tool for 32-bit.

Is the Server up to date, or is it a problem as well.

Are these the same PC's that have the Conficker infection per your other thread?

I have suggested using the Bit Defender tool in that thread
