Restrict a website from your computer?

Hi, Is there a way to restrict (block) a web site from coming into your computer? Thanks

If it's just 1 website and hoping the ip-address doesn't change, you can add an entry in your host file pointing it to something else... That way it will always resolve to whatever you point it to.

Can you please give me instructions on how to locate the"host" file. Is that the program file that I downloaded from this site? If so, how do I add an entry to point somewhere else. - This has to do with a program I bought in 2005 and got three keys for three computers and now they are saying I need to purchase more keys. Call their number but they appear to be out of business.

To open your host file follow these steps
Then, once you have it open, write something like this on a blank line without a # in front of it:

browsers have parental controls that are either built in or can be downloaded for free, is that what you're looking for?

for example, chrome has https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/block-site/eiimnmioipafcokbfikbljfdeojpcgbh?hl=en

Unfortunately I use Firefox. Not sure if they have something similar.
