1) Go to run box and type eventvwr and wait
2) check system and application events , you will find lot of information of current events as well past events.
3) event ID is mentioned with every event.

To open run box , Press Windows key + R button
4) note the event ID and you can search about that event on google with the help of event ID.

Thanks Ashok but unfortunately my request is not about the events which is happening in my servers. I just want a complete event id's and their descriptions as a document.

MohanrajM,
Good luck.. There are tons of them, and they have about 3-5 meanings per event ID, and each OS has it's own version of what each means..

You will be hard pressed to find a list of event ID's that give any real information as to what causes them without knowing the issue first..

For instance,
There are a few event ID's that can mean about 100 different things depending on what the application is that is associated to the event ID.

Your Security team sounds like they don't know what they are talking about..
Or they are messing with you..
Because if you started looking at just windows XP's list of event ID's for all applications at 25 years of age, it would likely take you till 50 to get through the list.. and by that time, the one's you know are now no longer relevant..
